Solomon's Wall

Today I've visited Tretyakov Gallery especially to see Solomon's Wall by Vasily Vereshchagin. This painting is here just for 10 day, as it is on Christie's preauction tour. Vereshchagin is one of my favourite Russian painters, as he is in love with the East and appeal to humanity with his works.



As usual, Alexander Ivanov's The Appearance of Christ before the People dragged my attention. This time I felt it in a special way, may be because I felt giddy and shuffling feet annoyed me so much. What leadership this painter had! He prepared more than 600 sketches for 10 years to paint his masterpiece of life.
