Yesterday evening I watched Oryantal Star, a show on ATV similar to Russian Narodny Artist. In this case the participants perform belly dances, but not songs. Like in Russia, the opportunity to appear on the screen has attracted many people who have nothing to do with talent: vulgar gypsies, women-like guys, and well-nourished housewifes.



But the participant who I remember most was a Turkmen girl looking like a prostitute. The judges asked here about her children and why she had left them. ‘There is no job there’ she said and ran away crying...
